Previewing Previews- DC Zero Issues

In September, DC Comics is releasing issue #0′s for all their New 52 books.  These issues promise to reveal origins, clarify timelines and answer questions.  Here is a look at what you can expect:

  • Talon #0 introduces Calvin Rose, the only Talon who has escaped from the grasp of the Court of Owls.
  • Phantom Stranger #0 will reveal what happened to the Phantom Stranger after we sentenced and banished by the wizards of the Rock of Eternity in the New 52 Free Comic Book Day issue.
  • Sword of Sorcery #0 features the introduction of Amethyst in the New 52.
  • Team 7 #0 is set in the five year period between the introduction of super-heroes in the New 52 and today’s continuity.  It follows a team of special operatives (Dinah Lance [Black Canary], Amanda Waller, Steve Trevor, John Lynch, Alex Fairchild, Cole Cash [Grifter] and Slade Wilson [Deathstroke] who are called upon to deal with the emerging super-hero problem.
  • Justice League #0 will feature the origin of Pandora (the mystery lady who was in all the #1 issues) and Shazam.
  • Aquaman #0 details the first appearance of Atlantis and Arthur’s first meeting with Atlanteans.
  • In Wonder Woman #0 we learn how Wonder Woman became a pupil of Ares, god of war.
  • Flash #0 gives us Barry Allen’s origin.
  • Savage Hawkman #0 reveals his connection to Thanagar and why he came to Earth.
  • Green Arrow #0 will reveal the relationship between Ollie and Roy Harper.
  • We see Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman in action in Earth 2 #0.  Plus Terry Sloan’s tragic origin.
  • See Supergirl (Power Girl) and Robin (Huntress) team-up for the first time in Worlds’ Finest #0.
  • DC Universe Presents #0 features all-new adventures of Hawk & Dove, Mister Terrific, O.M.A.C. and Mother Machine (from Blackhawks) that promise to impact the coming months across the New 52.
  • The final issue of Captain Atom #0 features the experiment that changed Captain Adam into Captain Atom.
  • Jason Rusch and Ronnie Raymond try to adapt after losing their powers in The Fury of Firestorm: The Nuclear Men #0.
  • Action Comics #0 details Clark Kent’s early days in Metropolis.
  • Superman #0 takes us back to Krypton for a tale about Jor-El learning of the impending destruction of Krypton.
  • Why did Harvest want to create Kryptonian clones?  Find out in Superboy #0!
  • Who shot Zor-El?  Why was Supergirl sent to Earth?  And by whom?  All these questions get answered in Supergirl #0.
  • Batman assembles his Bat-Army for the first time in Batman, Incorporated #0.
  • Batman #0  reveals the secret origins of all the Bat-Gear!
  • Young Bruce Wayne begins his training to be Batman in Detective Comics #0.
  • Batman investigates his parents’ murder in Batman: The Dark Knight #0.
  • Batman and Robin #0 explores the complicated relationship between Damian Wayne and his mother Talia al Ghul.
  • Batwoman #0 reveals how Kate Kane became Batwoman.
  • Batgirl #0 will reveal Batgirl’s earliest days and show how she recovered from her paralysis.
  • Learn Dick Grayson’s New 52 origin in Nightwing #0.
  • Batwing #0  details how Batwing was chosen as on of Batman’s allies.
  • It’s the first meeting of Black Canary and Batgirl.  Plus how did Dinah Lance transition from Team 7 to Birds of Prey.  All in Birds of Prey #0.
  • Catwoman #0 is Selina Kyle’s secret origin.
  • Find out how Jason Todd was resurrected after being killed by the Joker in Red Hood & the Outlaws #0.
  • Green Lantern #0 introduces the origin of the new Green Lantern from the Free Comic Book Day New 52 issue.
  • Guy Gardner gets the origin treatment in Green Lantern Corps #0.
  • Green Lantern: New Guardians #0 has the team preparing for battle with the Guardians of the Universe.
  • Red Lanterns #0 reveals a secret chapter in the history of the Red Lantern Corps.
  • Justice League Dark #0 gives us a tale of a young John Constantine in the early days of the New 52.
  • Dial H #0 features a tale of one of the early users of the H Dial.
  • The secret history of Buddy baker is revealed in Animal Man #0.
  • Mysteries surrounding Alec Holland and Anton Arcane are revealed in Swamp Thing #0.
  • The origin of  Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E. #0 shows us how Frankenstein was created and how he came to be an agent of S.HA.D.E.
  • Learn how Andrew Bennett became a vampire and why he’s able to control his blood hunger in I, Vampire #0.
  • It’s the final issue.  Resurrection Man #0 reveals the secret behind Mitch Shelley’s existence.
  • It’s Etrigan the Demon and Jason Blood versus Merlin and Lucifer in Demon Knights #0.
  • We learn some more about Team 7 and what led Slade Wilson to become the world’s most dangerous assassin in Deathstroke #0.
  • The dark truth behind Grifter’s powers and more on the threat of the Daemonites await in Grifter #0.
  • Both the Unknown Soldier and The War That Time Forgot get the origin treatment in G.I. Combat #0.
  • Learn exactly what Stormwatch has been up to in the New 52 in Stormwatch #0.
  • What happened to Team 7 and how did it lead to the creation of the Suicide Squad #0?  Only Amanda Waller knows…until you read this issue.
  • The final issue of  Voodoo #0 reveals the truth about Pris.
  • All-Star Western #0 has the 411 on Jonah Hex’s early days and how he got his scar.  (Sadly, I doubt there is any time travel in his origin.)
  • Blue Beetle #0 will reveal where the Scarab was before Jaime Reyes came into possession of it.  (Dan Garrett?  Ted Kord?  Again, sadly, I doubt it.)
  • Beast Boy and Terra get kidnapped by N.O.W.H.E.R.E. in  Ravagers #0.
  • How did Tim Drake become Robin?  Find out in Teen Titans #0.
  • Legion Lost #0 stars Timber Wolf and his origin.
  • Legion of Super-Heroes #0 promises a story called “Brainiac’s Original Sin”.
